Six staff took a day out of their office to volunteer at Foodbank.
The team soon got to work unloading about a tonne of stock donated by local churches and a large supermarket. The task was to sort it first into products and then into date order, ensuring nothing is wasted before moving onto the stock room.
Here is what the volunteers had to say about their day:
“It was hard work, good fun and very rewarding.” Said Petra Marzinger.
“It really made me think about how much food we waste at home and
how we can help people in real need.”
Lisa Shell enjoyed the experience of team volunteering. “It was
great seeing different parts of the business all come together and
make a difference. I’d definitely take part again”
Amarpeet Sahota was inspired by taking part “I’ve spare time to give on
an evening and weekends. I’m going to look more into
volunteering.”
Regular volunteers Lynn and Bryan were delighted with the team’s efforts. “We can’t thank you enough. It would have taken us at least a week to do what you’ve all achieved in a day. Please come back again!”
